Never before in the history of motorsport has a team managed what Mercedes achieved last weekend.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Team has achieved something more than the already monumental task of accompanying a driver safely to first place in the drivers’ world championship. The team around Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas simultaneously secured the championship in the Constructors’ Championship for an unprecedented sixth time in a row.

After the qualifying was postponed due to the typhoon “Hagibis”, instead taking place Sunday morning just before the race in the afternoon, the Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas started the from third and fourth position. The Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel started from the front row.

After a strong start by Bottas, he led the field after the first corners, while Vettel and Leclerc came under pressure from Hamilton.

At the end of the race, Valtteri Bottas claimed the victory and secured his third win of the season. Sebastian Vettel finished in second place, with Lewis Hamilton finishing out the podium. The two world champions gave the spectators a great show with a tense fight lasting up until the last lap, finishing with a gap of only half a second.

With 612 points Mercedes is in the constructors’ championship unassailable. In addition, the world title in the drivers’ classification will also go to Mercedes.  Hamilton and Bottas have so many points that no other driver will be able to catch up to them in the remaining rounds, so it will come down to a battle between the two Mercedes drivers for the championship!

Congratulations on these results!
